Bergen, Norway

Martin and I were able to take a quick weekend trip to Norway! It wound up raining on and off and was pretty cold up in the mountains, but it was still beautiful. Here are some photos as usual:

We walked around the city center for a few hours before heading to the mountains.

The fish market.

Drying off at the train station.

$24 for these two beers! Very expensive city. I want to go back and see more of Norway for sure.

Kalalau Trail

The Kalalau Trail! One of the best things you can do in Hawaii. It’s an 11 mile hike to the Kalalau Beach where you can camp and hike and relax. We spent one day hiking in, two days on the beach and exploring the area, and the last day hiking out. Pretty intense hike to say the least, but beautiful and totally worth it.

The trail head at Ke’e Beach.

Two miles in at Hanakapi’ai Beach.

Hungry trail kitty.

Red Hill.

A much needed breeze.

Here the trail is so narrow you can hardly see it.

One of the elusive mile markers.

We still had about a mile to go as the sun was setting.

Bathing/washing dishes in the river.

Thank god for our steri-pen. Don’t go without one.

Our campsite.

Starting a fire for lunch.

One of the other rinsing spots.

Kalalau Beach!

Us in the cave, avoiding the sun.

Watching the sun set with our new friends from Germany.

Soo many stars :)

The next day we hiked into the valley.

We bought some wine grown in the valley by some of the locals, it was nice!

Yikes.

I highly recommend doing this hike and spending as much time as you can at the camp, it’s one of the best trips I’ve been on so far!
